Flexible
I love being flexible, except when it interferes with my routine. I have never done “school” during the Holidays. However due to an extended summer break and later than normal Kenya trip, we have found ourselves doing just that. Now, instead of rolling into the holidays doing fun crafts, candies, and colors, we are doing MATH, World War 2, and Phonics!
What’s your Purpose?
“How am I supposed to do this?” I think Caleb and I both said those words countless times that first year. (Actually still do!) How can I teach my child when I’m not a teacher? I have no official training or methods of learning, no experience in the classroom, not even an exceptional education myself. What do I use, who do I call when I have a bad day? And when do I have time ALONE?? Sometimes, honestly I don’t like my children, so how do I get along with them ALL DAY LONG?
Top 5 Reasons Home school is like Breastfeeding
The idea of homeschooling for me began mid way through Caleb’s year of Kindergarten. Things in our home just CHANGED… and I didn’t like it. With baby #3 on the way, I knew this was going to be a challenge. Still, after much prayer I believed God was nudging me toward homeschooling. Which means, in other words, He was pulling me out of this boat sailing through nice calm waters and inserting me into another one, broken and wind busted with more storm clouds on the horizon. So I laid down all my reasons why I couldn’t do this, and accepted His hand held out to help me. And with a 6 week old baby on one arm and another child age 3 beside me, and we began our journey….together!
